Mobile World Congress Recap

Friday, May 1st, 2009

We’re very excited about the near launch of our mobile coupon platform YOOSE. But, until the time has come we want to recapitulate some of the most impressive moments and events of the early developing and promoting stage. Teaming up with Aloqa, we had the opportunity to present our service to the jury of the Navteq LBS Challenge in February this year, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. “First launched in 2003, the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge is focused on driving the development and visibility of innovative navigation solutions for wireless devices. The Challenge has become the premier event in the LBS industry and a global symbol of LBS innovation and opportunity.” The feedback we received both from the jury as well as observers and other participants of this contest was very vital for the further advancement of our product. And we’re very much anticipating next year’s MWC to present the first case studies, reports and experiences with respect to putting YOOSE into practice.

Location based coupons become reality

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

The last weeks have been busy to prepare for the big annual mobile event in Barcelona. The Mobile World Congress (MWC) takes place from Feb 16-19, 2009. YOOSE has teamed up with Aloqa, our provider for location technology, and have submitted the mobile location based coupons 2.0 solution for judging at the Navteq Global LBS Challenge. We were selected for the final judging, which will take place on Feb 15. A day full of presentations to the 13 judges (from BMW, Nokia, BT, Orange, T-Mobile and others) is ahead and we’re ready to show our prototype to them, including a driving demonstration, to get a coupon close to the judging location.

The awards ceremony will take place on Feb 17 and we’re looking forward to be part of it.

If you happen to be in Barcelona for the MWC and wish to see a demo, please drop us a note and we’ll arrange a meeting.

Mobile 2.0: Where is the money in mobile advertising?

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

YOOSE has not been part of the Mobile 2.0 event in the valley this year, but one of the conference organizers Rudy de Wale from m-trends.org has written a good summary of the event.

The leading questions are: How viable is mobile advertising in an economic slowdown? How will the current economy impact businesses that derive revenues from mobile advertising? Can mobile advertising count on VC funding?

If you are interested about the answers, please continue reading here.

Unfortunately the inspiration he could transmit was not very high and the advanced hour (22h30 Berlin time) did not help either. However we’re planning to develop a YOOSE facebook app, to share your coupons with your friends.

INSEAD Global Entrepreneurship Forum

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

This summer INSEAD organized for the first time the Global Entrepreneurship Forum. Built around the Business Venture Competition (congratulations to the winning teams), the MBA school gathered quite a high quality group of entrepreneurs, VCs and other relevant people for the two day event. My personal highlight was the panel discussion “How to raise capital without giving away your company” (Anat Bar-Gera – WiMax Africa, Maximilian Niederhofer – Atlas Ventures, Olivier Schuepbach – Wellington Partners, Moderator: Reshma Sohoni – SeedCamp).
